Liger Leadership Academy students are English Language Learners. They have been immersed in English for over five years but are still developing grammar and fluency. At Liger, we pride ourselves on prioritizing process over product. Please excuse any English errors as part of the learning continuum our students have taken over the years.
Growing up as a Khmer teenage boy who lives in a culturally significant country, Cambodia — also known as the “Pearl of Asia” — is truly an honor and a remarkable opportunity. Having a deep appreciation for art in my country has empowered me to become a true artist in my future. Everyday, I enjoy creating new art pieces, watching videos related to art, and researching art history and dance. These activities have been an opportunity to express my identity. Furthermore, marine biology and social science — specifically gender equity — are also my passions. I have already become a certified scuba-diver and a role model in the community who fights for gender equity. All of these passions give me a variety of ways to change Cambodia, my home.
Besides all of my passions, as a person, I always show great enthusiasm and friendliness. Currently, I am 16 years young and am always known as the “silly boy,” Venghour.
