Cambodian Identity
The people of Cambodia generally identify as Khmers, although how this term is understood greatly differs between people and groups. “Khmer” is an identity based upon ethnicity, language, and religion above all else. The ethnic Khmers are generally Buddhist in a country with over 90% of the population identifying as Buddhist. However, today many people struggle to define this identity as Khmer in more detail. The past of Cambodia has been one that many people feel ashamed of as they seek a new path in the future. Due to past of violence, takeovers, and civil wars, many people are attempting to redefine Khmer to exclude politics and magnify culture. But there is no consensus on this direction or even what aspects of the culture should be defined. Oddly, most ethnic minorities in the country actually shift the other direction and identify as Khmers as they know identifying as Khmer will get them more opportunities in the country, even if they are not ethnic Khmers; this is leading to a slow loss of minority languages and cultures in Cambodia. So, generally speaking, most people identify as being “Khmer,” but how this term is defined differs wildly from individual to individual or from group to group.

Cambodians have a struggle of the identities of the term “Khmer” so there are many perspective of people are defining the term in the different ways. Many people are having a conflict on the definition and identities of the term, Khmer because of the changing of the country overtime. The quote states “However, today many people struggle to define this identity as Khmer in more detail.” This clearly shows that Cambodians are truly stuck on the defining and identities of this term. Also, it’s because of the past of the country like civil wars, violence and takeovers. Although many people are having a problem with this term, but there are many people are thinking and concentrating on the definition of the term differently. The quote of the article says “There is no consensus on this direction or even what aspects of the culture should be defined.” This means, there is no an agreement on the definition should be. So, for some people think that Khmer is an identity based on the language, ethnicity and religion. Strangely, for the ethnic minorities think that identity as a Khmer will give them a lot of opportunities. Therefore, Cambodians are having a problem on this complex term and making people think the identities and definition differently.

Water Science

In our STEM class and those of you who doesn’t STEM, is standing for Science, Technology, Engineer and Math. So in this class, we learned and focus on one science called “Water.” As we know that atoms are the building blocks of all material in and on earth. This is the atomic structure.

Water Science

As the diagram shows in the middle of the atom, we call it “Nucleus.” It is the core of the atom that have “Protons” and “Neutrons” inside it. Protons is with the positive charge and Neutrons with no charge. But the outside wall of the atom has “Electrons” and with the negative charge. For extra information, The number of protons always equals to the number of electrons. Atoms react with other atoms is to become more stable forming compounds. For example the H2O is the compound of water.

So, this is a focus of water and this is the diagram shows about the water compound of how each element reacts and combine to form a compound.

As the diagram shows the hydrogen only had one electron and one proton. Inside the nucleus of oxygen there eight protons and eight neutrons and the number of electron of the first orbit is two, so it’s fine. But on the second orbit of the oxygen atom there are only six electrons and that is meaning it needs two more electrons. So, the other two hydrogens come and share their electrons to the oxygen’s electrons because hydrogen is only had one electron. Finally, it forms a water compounds.

The place that both type of atoms, hydrogen and oxygen call “Covalent Bonds.” It is a very strong bond when they connected to each other. For the negative sign side and positive sign side is called “Polarity” and means it had both positive and negative. Source from the diagram the oxygen had a negative pull and the hydrogen had a positive pull. So, it attracts to each other like a magnet.

I learned a lot about the science of water but there’s a question, Why Life Require Water? There are four points why life requires water.
A good solvent – it means it can dissolve material. For example, Dishes.
Ice float – less dense (if ice sinks to the bottom of the lake. The ice will freeze down there soon all the water will form ice.
High heat capacity – it is how water heated up required a lot of energy. Also it takes a lot of energy when it cools down.
Metabolism – Our body needs water to break down food, so when you eat food it helps to digest.

There’s also a question why water polar? The reason why water polars because in the oxygen of water molecule, there are eight protons and the electrons on the last orbit only have six, so it’s not stable. So the other two hydrogens is sharing with each other. Now, it had ten electrons. Let the oxygen has eight protons and ten electrons. So the electron is stronger than the proton and it’s like the gravity is pulling down to connect with each other. It’ like they batteries can connect with each other only negative and positive goes together.

Reading Test of 2016!

After finished the book called “Crossover” of the level X, there is another reading test waiting in front of my face to get ready. I feel so nervous and excited because I need to do another reading test and I want to know my ability of understanding and reading. Right now I’m in Level X and literacy teacher, Caroline lets me do the first reading test on Level Z1. In order to pass the level we need to get the comprehension check eight out of ten of the question and 95% of reading ability. So the book I tested in Z1 is called “Private Spaceships” and I got eight and a half out of ten. Then I continue to Z3 and the book called “The Bronze Bow” and of course I passed, I got eight and half out of ten. So I started to test the book on the level Z4 called “Animal Farm” and I got eight out of ten. After that I tested the book on Z5 called “Anne Frank” and this is the first book that caught my attention and I got eight and half out of ten. So I continue to test the book on Z6 called “The Moonlight Palace.” This stage made me feel depressed and also understanding the truth. I went back to Z5 and this is the real ability of reading for me right now. On the reading test of Z6 I got the questions right just seven and a half out of of ten, so I’m not pass but it’s ok for me because it made me know myself more and start to improve myself in the future when this test comes to me again.

Crossover Book Level X

The start of my first year at school 2012 I read the books with my literacy teacher in Level D. Every year there always a reading test happened. It is about testing the students ability of reading can they continue to a higher level or not. From 2012 till 2016 I increased 20 levels start from Level D to Level X. In Level X everything new for me because I get the new reading members and our book is strange too. The book in Level X that we read are written poem and the book named “Crossover”. For myself I love this book so much because this book is mostly talking about basketball. This book teaches me new things such as complex and technical words, diseases and how to take care yourself. The book is talking about one family that have four members are Mom, Dad, JB and Josh. Josh and JB are identical twin and their Dad is used to be a professional basketball player named “Da Man.” Dad is the one that always tells the rules and share his wisdom to his kids all the time but he has the diseases are Patellar Tendonitis and the heart attack because of playing basketball and serving food unhealthily. So this book is written by “Kwame Alexander.”

One morning I woke up, and to my surprize…

One morning I woke up, and to my surprize I saw one of the beautiful sunlight shining to my room. Then I went down stair to cook my breakfast. I ate egg with bread and it’s my usual breakfast that I ate everyday. After that I went to prepare my school supply with my father and my two little sisters. We rode the car and sang to each other even there was no music. When I came to school all of my friends were standing to respect the flag. I was late today because of too much fun on the way, but now I’m at school. “Hi! Nary, how are you?” I said. “I am good, and you?” Nary asked. After that I just replied back to her. Many people had fun at school. Oh! That day is the most fun. We all talked and talked about our weekend at school. Finally Dalin came to me and asked “Did you play minecraft yesterday?”. “Oh! I have been play minecraft yesterday, It was fun and a lot of yelling!” I replied back. And then Dalin said “Do you have homework on the weekend”. “Oh no! I forget to do my homework Dalin, what should I do” I replied with an anxious voice. “I think you should talk to our teacher” Dalin said. I replied in a low voice “okay I will try”. In a class Jeff asked for homework shit everyone took it for him except one student, Venghour. Jeff asked me “Jeff said Where is your homework sheets?’ Then I said I forget to do my home work. Then it ok it not a big problem but neek time if someone forget to do homework. At the end of school we went to our activities and I had a lot of fun because Jeff said it was ok when I did not done my homework sheets. But I needed to finish my homework sheets and I will give him tomorrow. Then I went back to my house.
